MBS and MBZ condemn 'dangerous Iranian escalation' in first official exchange since rift

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed discussed the Iranian strikes carried out in response to the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran, marking their first official exchange since a deterioration in relations at the end of December.

The de facto Saudi leader called his Emirati counterpart, and “they discussed regional developments and the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and several other brotherly countries,” according to the official Emirati news agency WAM.

The two leaders condemned what they described as “a dangerous escalation that threatens the region’s security and undermines its stability.” The crown prince expressed Saudi Arabia’s “full solidarity” with its Emirati neighbor and offered “all its resources to support any measures taken by the UAE,” while the Emirati president “expressed his gratitude and appreciation,” the statement said.
