"The pope has received an invitation, and we are considering what to do," Parolin told journalists. "I believe it will be something that requires a bit of time for consideration before giving a response."
The initiative was initially presented as an effort to end the war in Gaza, but Trump has since said it would have a broader mandate to address conflicts worldwide. While countries including Israel and Egypt have accepted the invitation, others have voiced reservations, with diplomats warning the body could undermine the United Nations.
The Vatican press office did not immediately comment.
Since his election last May, Leo has adopted a discreet but active diplomatic approach and has repeatedly decried conditions for Palestinians in Gazas.
