A "message" to the meeting scheduled at the Élysée on the situation in Lebanon?

That is, at least, how Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri interprets it after a series of Israeli strikes on Thursday morning targeting southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, just hours before a meeting in Paris between Lebanese Army Commander Rodolph Haykal and French, American and Saudi officials.

The raids began shortly after 10 a.m., with bombings in Hermel, in northern Bekaa, according to our correspondent, and a series of attacks in the South.

In that region, within about 15 minutes, at least eight strikes with ten missiles targeted the heights of Jabbour and Katrani in the Jezzine district, and the banks of the Litani River between Zaouter, Alman, and Deir Serian, between the Marjayoun and Nabatieh districts, according to information from our correspondent in the South.

Commenting on these strikes during a parliamentary session in Beirut, Berri said they were an "Israeli message" addressed to the Paris meeting, attended by Haykal, U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus and Saudi envoy Yazid bin Farhan.

According to Berri, this Israeli "belt of fire" is also a "tribute to the mechanism meeting," referring to the cease-fire supervision committee, whose next session is scheduled for Friday.

This will be the second meeting of the participants in this mechanism since the appointment by Beirut and Tel Aviv of "civilian" diplomats to represent both parties at these meetings in Naqoura, southern Lebanon.

Training camp, Hezbollah launch pads

The Israeli attacks targeted, according to a post on X by the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee, a Hezbollah camp and military infrastructure in various regions of Lebanon.

Missile launch pads were reportedly destroyed inside the party’s training camp, as well as artillery platforms and weapons stockpiles, according to the spokesperson.

He said the camp had been used to train fighters "in firing exercises and the use of different combat tools to plan attacks" against Israel. Other strikes carried out "inside Lebanon," meaning the Bekaa, targeted "Hezbollah military buildings used for weapons storage."

In addition to this series of strikes claimed by the Israeli army, the latter also bombed, with two missiles, the village of Taybeh in the Marjayoun district.

This raid, which targeted a utility van, injured four, according to the Health Ministry. Among them were workers from Electricité du Liban (EDL, the public power provider), who were near the site at the time of the attack. The targeted vehicle and an EDL van caught fire. The Israeli army said it had targeted a "Hezbollah terrorist" in this attack, without specifying the individual’s identity.

On Wednesday evening, shortly after 9 p.m., Israeli artillery fired on a house located between Ramaya (Bint Jbeil district) and Marwahine (Sour district), along the main road, according to our correspondent. And a little after 11 p.m., an Israeli drone of the "quadcopter" type dropped a "barrel" containing explosives on a house in the same locality of Ramaya, our correspondent reported.
