The electoral campaign is in full swing ahead of the Nov. 16 elections for the Beirut Bar Association's Administrative Committee. Eight seats need to be filled, including that of the next bar president, who would be succeeding Fadi Masri.Phone calls, office meetings and dinner invitations are gathering speed: each of the 20 candidates — especially the four running for the top spot — are working to rally as many of their peers as they can and to forge both professional and political alliances.Long gone, it seems, are the days when candidates for the committee were judged primarily for their legal skills and strong network.
