BEIRUT — The Israeli army killed a man and injured to others in a drone strike that targeted his moped and he was driving in the southern Lebanese village of Mansouri, in Sour district on Thursday morning.

Israel has killed more than 260 people in Lebanon since it agreed to a cease-fire with Hezbollah more than seven months ago, according to figures compiled by the United Nations. Israeli attacks are a daily occurrence in southern Lebanon, although in the last week, Israel has also killed people in drone strikes in the northern city of Tripoli and just south of Beirut.

"A man was killed and two others were wounded in a drone strike by the Israeli enemy that targeted a motorcycle in the village of Mansouri," the Health Ministry confirmed shortly after the attack, which the Israel army had not claimed at the time of publication.

Recent Israeli attacks

Who was the Hamas official targeted in Israel's North Lebanon drone strike?

The Israeli army said Wednesday that its soldiers advanced into southern Lebanon to carry out "special and targeted operations" to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure a few kilometers from the Israeli border. The incursion was carried out in the regions of Jabal Blat and Labbouneh, near areas of ongoing Israeli military occupation.

The November 2024 cease-fire mandated that UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army would take on the responsibility of ensuring that Hezbollah's disarmament south of the Litani River be complete, which Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has said is more than 80 percent complete. Salam added that the process is being hindered by Israel's ongoing occupation of Lebanese territory along the Blue Line.

While Israeli troops have on several occasions recently, carried out incursions into Lebanese villages, this is the first time since the ostensible cease-fire came into effect that the Israeli army has announced its ground "operations."

Strike on a cafe in Yohmor el-Chakif

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday, an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a cafe in Yohmor al-Shaqif, in Nabatieh district. There were no casualties in the attack. Around the same time, Israeli tanks bombarded the outskirts of the village of Aitaroun, in Bint Jbeil district.

The Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, released a statement on X on Thursday morning claiming that it had attacked "a Hezbollah military command center in Yohmor," alleging that the building, which housed a cafe that was closed at the time of the attack, was used by Hezbollah in order to organize its attacks against Israel.

Between 9:30 and 11 p.m. last night, the Israeli army fired flares (incendiary bombs) on several areas across southern Lebanon, with the supposed intention of starting fires across the dried-out landscape.

Israeli tanks fired flares on the outskirts of Wazzani, and drones dropped flares on the plains of Khiam and Wadi al-Asafir, and on a residential neighborhood on the outskirts of Blida, all in southern Lebanon's Marjayoun district, as well as near Yaroun, in Bint Jbeil district.
