The pressure is mounting. At a time when the United States, through its envoy Thomas Barrack, has presented Lebanon with a list of conditions for restoring stability in south, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri finds himself in an increasingly delicate position. A traditional mediator between the international community and Hezbollah, Berri is now expected to “convince” the party of the need for disarmament and to push a series of financial reforms through Parliament.
