The war between Iran and Israel offers an opportunity for a "new path" in the Middle East, U.S. envoy for Syria Tom Barrack said Sunday to Turkey's state agency Anadolu.
"What just happened between Israel and Iran is the occasion for all of us to say: 'Pause! Let's create a new path,' and Turkey is a key element of this new path," he stated.
He also mentioned that the disagreement between Turkey and the United States over the F-35 fighter jet program, as well as U.S. sanctions imposed on Ankara, should be resolved. "I am confident that we will have the opportunity to find a solution by the end of the year. I am therefore convinced that they will solve the problem," he said in reference to Turkey's exclusion from the F-35 program and U.S. sanctions against Ankara.
