On Tuesday, the Lebanese Army began removing an earth embankment built by Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory during an overnight incursion near Mais al-Jabal, our correspondent in South Lebanon reported.
Equipped with a bulldozer, the army is re-leveling fields that were dug up by Israeli troops. The embankment stretches for several dozen meters between the areas of “Kouroum al-Mrah” and “Khallet al-Mghara,” while the trench dug to build it is nearly two meters deep, according to local residents. The structure was constructed around 200 meters inside Lebanese territory.
The Israeli operation lasted for about eight hours overnight. The Israeli army has not commented on the move. During the excavation, the Lebanese Army was deployed just meters away, with UNIFIL peacekeepers positioned behind them.
Mais al-Jabal is located between two positions still occupied by Israel along the border: about five kilometers to the north, the one located on the road between Markaba and Houla, and a few kilometers to the south, that of Jal al-Deir, south of Aitaroun.

Fires caused by Israel
Further east, residents of the Ghajar and Abbassieh regions, in the Hasbaya district, reported to our correspondent fires caused by the Israeli army during the night in these two localities. According to these residents, the Israeli military uses this technique to prevent any infiltration attempts and to illuminate the area.
Continuous troop movements were heard at the Israeli position established in Lebanese territory at Tallet Hamames, south of Khiam. This hill is part of the five points that Israel continues to occupy in southern Lebanon.
A Lebanese man wounded overnight on Sunday in an Israeli drone strike on his moped in Majdel Zoun, in the Sour district of southern Lebanon, succumbed to his injuries, according to our correspondent.
The victim was named Abdallah Zeineddine, and Hezbollah announced he was one of their members, originally from Jmaijmeh in southern Lebanon. According to our records, Israeli strikes and shelling on Lebanon since the cease-fire with Israel took effect have killed at least 165 people.
The Lebanese Army has completed filling in the trench and removing the earthen berm in the Kroum al-Mrah area of Mais al-Jabal (Bint Jbeil), our correspondent in the south reported.
