The Constitutional Council ruled on Tuesday that the enactment of the two laws on non-residential rents and retired private school teachers, dated April 3, 2025, did not comply with the procedure outlined in the Constitution.The Constitutional Council’s decision was based on two claims filed on April 17 — one by President Joseph Aoun, and the other by 11 MPs from various political backgrounds, challenging the legality of the enactment of the two laws. They pointed out that the laws were neither promulgated by the president nor countersigned by the prime minister.
