Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, alongside Justice Minister Adel Nassar, conducted an inspection at the Beirut courthouse on Monday evening to assess the progress of vote counting from Sunday’s municipal elections in the capital.
Following this visit, Hajjar noted, "The vote counting process is proceeding smoothly, with speed and precision."
He added, "We will keep the public informed throughout the process to address any questions that may arise."
The results in the capital are highly anticipated, with speculation that unexpected gains by the influential alliance, "Beirut Unites Us," could challenge the Christian-Muslim parity in the upcoming municipal council.
Meanwhile, election results from Bekaa and Baalbek-Hermel, including the Rashaya and West Bekaa districts, are being gradually released by the ministry.
Municipal elections in South Lebanon and Nabatieh are set for Saturday, May 24. This marks the fourth and final phase of the municipal elections, delayed by three years due to successive crises.
