Hezbollah's electoral machine expressed gratitude on Monday through a statement to "the loyal supporters of the Resistance," who demonstrated "wisdom, responsibility, and discipline" by maintaining stability and balance within the capital's components during the municipal battle, surpassing sensitivities to protect coexistence.

The statement also highlighted the "significance" of the Hezbollah-Amal alliance's votes, approximately 20,000, responding when called by the two parties, showing "absolute trust in the national choices of the tandem."

Despite significant political disagreements with parties like the Lebanese Forces (LF), the duo was part of a broad alliance composed of most of the country's political parties under the banner "Beirut Unites Us." This aimed to form a list ensuring the election of 12 Christians and 12 Muslims to Beirut's municipal council, adhering to a custom existing for about 30 years. The municipal law does not mention confessional quotas in councils, and Muslim voters outnumber Christian voters in the city, posing a fear for this parity. However, it seems almost certain at this point that the Sunni president of another list, partly supported by Jamaa Islamiya, could have made inroads at the expense of a Christian candidate from the parties' list.

The statement concluded that "this public made all possible efforts, facing political and social challenges, to keep Beirut a haven for all its children."

The duo partnered with various ruling parties on a unified list in the capital to ensure parity on the municipal council.
