Among the six lists competing for the city’s 24 municipal council seats, only three succeeded in getting candidates elected: “Tripoli’s Vision,” backed by MP Ashraf Rifi, and former Syria-aligned MPs Faisal Karami and Taha Naji, won 12 seats, compared to 11 for the list supported by MP and businessman Ihab Matar, and, in all likelihood, by former Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
