The United States announced a new wave of sanctions on Monday, targeting two companies based in Lebanon, specifically in the coastal city of Jounieh.

These are Great Success Shipping and ZAAS Shipping and Trading – which also has an address in the Marshall Islands – two companies founded in 2023 and accused by the Office of Foreign Assets Controls (OFAC) of belonging to a network providing petroleum products to the Houthi rebels in Yemen, key allies of Hezbollah.

In October 2023, these two groups, along with other Iranian satellites, formed the support front for Hamas against Israel in the war in Gaza.

The United States regularly announces sanctions against entities affiliated with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Last March, the U.S. Treasury sanctioned five individuals and three entities "involved in a sanction-evasion network based in Lebanon, supporting Hezbollah's financial team." They are accused particularly of "providing material assistance, financing, or providing financial, material, or technological support to Hezbollah."
