Lebanon now has a National Committee for Wine, Arak and Alcoholic Beverages

The Minister of Agriculture, Nizar Hani, issued a decision on Wednesday to create the National Committee for Wine, Arak and Alcoholic Beverages, appointing the ministry's Director-General, Louis Lahoud, as its head.

According to the statement for the decision, the creation of the committee highlighted the importance of this sector in Lebanon's economic life. The committee, composed of industry representatives and ministry officials, is expected to ensure production standards, provide advice to professionals, continuously improve production, and ensure that exports occur under the best conditions.

Lebanese wine and arak hold a significant place in Lebanon's culture and economy. The country, with a winemaking tradition dating back five millennia, is recognized for the quality of its wines, primarily produced in the Bekaa Valley and northern Lebanon. Lebanese wine has secured a place on international markets.
