During his state visit to Paris, President Joseph Aoun found himself at the center of a regional initiative spearheaded by France. At the Élysée Palace, he met with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as heads of state and government from Syria, Greece and Cyprus, in a summit that expanded its focus to regional issues. A European diplomatic source told L'Orient Le-Jour that the roundtable aimed to help Lebanon regain its role within the region, while simultaneously reflecting the breadth of France's regional influence.
