President Joseph Aoun called Tuesday for making the Islamic-Christian Feast of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary "a new beginning to strengthen our national unity in order to establish a bright future for Lebanon."
"The Feast of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary is an opportunity to renew the commitment to adhere to the principles of coexistence on which Lebanon was founded. As we face the most difficult challenges at various levels, including suffocating economic crises, political pressures, and security challenges, this occasion reminds us of Lebanon's ability to withstand adversity," said Aoun in a message addressed to Lebanon. He also stated that "the Lebanon we believe in is a Lebanon that believes in religious and cultural pluralism as the foundation of peace. At a time when the region and the world are going through major crises, this remains the most important Lebanese message."
The president called for making "this occasion a new beginning to strengthen our true national unity in order to establish a bright future for Lebanon that, with God's help, will remain a haven of freedom, equality and tolerance."
