BEIRUT — Japan has provided the Lebanese Army with support in the form of solar-powered electrical systems installed in several medical centers used by the Lebanese Army, under the supervision of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The receipt of this donation was formalized on the sidelines of a ceremony at the Yarzeh Officers' Club, attended by the commander of the Lebanese Army, General Rodolphe Haykal, the Japanese ambassador, Magoshi Mazayuki, as well as the UNOPS director in Jordan, Mohammad Othman, and a number of officers.
During the ceremony, the Japanese ambassador honored “the vital role played by the Lebanese Army to ensure the security and stability of Lebanon” and emphasized that “the Japanese authorities support the Lebanese Army in the face of current difficulties.”
For his part, the army chief praised the “new phase of active cooperation between Lebanon and Japan.”
