The "day of the pagers [attack]," or during the displacement crisis, Lebanon's health sector was able to face the challenges thanks to its "preparedness," which emulates of the lessons learned from COVID, says the former health minister.

Five years ago, as the world was scrambling to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, Lebanon saw its very first death as a result of the virus, 50 -year-old Lebanese man who had returned from Egypt and was in a “very critical” condition.In these five years, Lebanon has endured a cholera outbreak, the devastating Aug. 4, 2020, port explosion, and, just months ago, a brutal war between Hezbollah and Israel that left significant parts of the country in ruins.
