At least five dead, more than a dozen injured, a series of kidnappings, artillery and rocket fire... Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on Dec. 8, temperatures have never been as high as over the past 48 hours at the Lebanese-Syrian border. Early Thursday morning on Feb. 6, initial reports indicated exchanges of fire following the entry of Syrian security forces into Hawik, a village located one kilometer from the border, inside Syrian territory, where Lebanese 'clans' reside. Subsequently, a video appeared on social media showing three Lebanese men demanding their release in exchange for two Syrian nationals, before a prisoner exchange involving a Lebanese Red Cross team and the Lebanese Army was organized in the evening at the official 'Joussiyeh' border post, located in northern Bekaa near Qaa.
