Did Energy and Water Minister Walid Fayad make a mistake by entrusting the Union of Municipalities of the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah and Amal, with a project to build a hydroelectric plant in Jeita (Kesrwan), a predominantly Christian region opposed politically to the Shiite duo?MPs Neemat Frem and Farid Haykal Khazen seem convinced, judging by the tone with which they reacted to the issue which the MTV channel recently returned to in a report critical of the minister.Fayad, contacted by L'Orient-Le Jour, claimed "not to have failed any of the legal obligations to try to entrust, as quickly as possible and with complete transparency, a project that meets a real need of the Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Office."
