The Lebanese Army took control of several strategic sites previously held by armed Palestinian factions in the Bekaa region on Saturday morning, according to L'Orient Today's correspondent in the Bekaa.

The army assumed control of a Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command site located in the Sultan Yakoub area of Western Bekaa. Armed personnel from the group vacated the location, reportedly heading to an undisclosed destination.

Earlier, the army also took over the Sultan Yakoub mountain base and Halweh camp, previously held by Fatah al-Intifada, as well as the Hashmash site between Qosaya and Deir al-Ghazal in Central Bekaa.

Upon securing the areas, the Lebanese Army conducted inspections, including in the tunnels used by the Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine General Command, and deployed units to safeguard the sites.

In a video shared by local channel LBCI on its networks, hooded Lebanese soldiers are seen unfurling the Lebanese flag and that of the troop, in Heshmesh.
