Despite the cease-fire, south Lebanon residents are watching their villages be destroyed
According to the town's mayor, the rate of destruction in Naqoura has reached 70 percent of the village area, up from 35 percent before the cease-fire.

BEIRUT — The Israeli army has destroyed an additional 35 percent of the southern Lebanese village of Naqoura since a cease-fire was brought into effect on Nov. 27, supposedly ending hostilities between the Isreali army and Hezbollah. According to Naqoura's mayor, Abbas Awada, around 70 percent of the town has now been destroyed since the war began and the demolitions are ongoing, with Thursday marking the third consecutive day Israeli bulldozers have knocked down homes there.The cease-fire, which appears more like a deescalation, was meant to end 13 months of conflict, and as part of the agreement, a monitoring committee composed of the U.S., France, Lebanon, Israel and UNIFIL, was established.
