After leveling numerous homes, Israel has now turned its sights on the savings of Hezbollah’s grassroots supporters.On Sunday night, a series of Israeli airstrikes targeted neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs as well as villages in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, where a bombing campaign targeted branches of Qard al-Hassan, a non-governmental microcredit organization affiliated with Hezbollah.Warnings to evacuate buildings in these areas had been issued earlier by Avichay Adraee, the Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson.Tel Aviv declared war on what it calls “Hezbollah’s bank,” marking the first time an Israeli assault has directly targeted a civilian institution tied to the party.
