The bodies of two Hezbollah members killed Monday by the Israeli army on the southern border of Lebanon are being held by this army, a security source told L'Orient-Le Jour's correspondent in south Lebanon on Friday.

The two bodies are those of members of the party from southern Lebanon, the same source added. So far, Hezbollah has not made any statement about this information, nor has it responded to requests from L'Orient-Le Jour.

Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported Friday that "three Hezbollah operatives managed to plant remotely activated explosive devices on the border on Monday. Soldiers who noticed them opened fire, killing two of them, while the third managed to escape. The bodies of the two operatives were transferred to Israeli territory yesterday (Thursday)."

The Israeli army said Thursday evening that it had killed two people who tried to "plant a bomb" near a military outpost on the Lebanese border, the Haaretz daily reported.

Israeli army Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on Thursday that "Israeli forces, which ambushed the northern border earlier this week, spotted two Hezbollah operatives planting an explosive device targeting our forces on the Lebanese border. The forces directed artillery and aerial fire to kill the operatives, who attempted to detonate the explosive device in [northern Israel]."
