Lebanon's permanent mission to the U.N. on Tuesday filed a complaint with the Security Council in New York following the Sept. 7 Israeli drone strike that killed three members of the Civil Defense in Froun.
In its statement, Lebanon's foreign ministry announced that this strike left four dead, but two sources within the Civil Defense confirmed that it left three victims. A fourth firefighter injured in the drone strike is still hospitalized in intensive care. These firefighters were deployed to extinguish a fire that had broken out after a series of night strikes in the area.
In its complaint, Lebanon denounces "the inhumane, repeated and unjustified Israeli attacks against rescue operations, health centers and health institutions," which represent "flagrant violations of human rights, international law and international humanitarian law."
Beirut also called on members of the U.N. Security Council to "condemn these crimes" and hold Israel accountable.
Since the start of the fighting along Lebanon's southern border between Hezbollah and Israel, Lebanon has filed several complaints with the U.N. Security Council. The latest was on Aug. 19 and concerned the violation of Lebanese airspace by Israeli fighter jets, which regularly cause sonic booms.
