The Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) condemned Monday's armed attack on the director of its office in the Karakol al-Druze area of Beirut and two other people while calling on the security services “to take the necessary measures and arrest the culprits.”
“The party is more committed than ever to the state and its institutions ... We have full confidence in the security services and the judiciary and await the results of the investigation,” the party said in a statement released on Monday evening.
Contacted by L'Orient-Le Jour, a source close to the case said that the director of the Karakol al-Druze office and two other people accompanying him were shot at by a motorcyclist as they stood outside the party's offices on Monday. According to this source, the incident was not politically motivated and the police have promised to reveal the details of the case soon. The three injured, one of whom was seriously injured, are said to be out of the woods, the source continued.
