BEIRUT — The Energy Ministry on Friday announced a slight increase in fuel prices and a huge hike in one kiloliter of fuel oil.
Here are the new prices:
• Twenty liters of 95-octane gasoline: LL1,824,000, up by LL18,000
• Twenty liters of 98-octane gasoline: LL1,862,000, up by LL18,000
• Twenty liters of diesel: LL1,720,000, up by LL28,000
• Gas cylinder: LL923,000, unchanged
• One kiloliter of fuel oil (used to supply private generators): $897.82, up by $15.5
Global price hike
"These increases are due to a global price hike," Georges Brax, spokesman for Lebanon's gas station owners' union, tells L'Orient Le-Jour.
"The price of a barrel of oil has exceeded $94. Russia and Saudi Arabia are pursuing their policy of cutting production," he said, adding that production of these two countries reaches 1,300,000 barrels a day.
