BEIRUT — An Israeli drone fell between the two villages of Aita el-Shaab and Rmeich in South Lebanon, Al-Manar TV reported on Thursday.

Here’s what we know:

    • The Israeli army “is trying to recover the drone,” Al-Manar added, without indicating what caused the aircraft to fall.

    • This comes after Liberation Day, the May 25, 2000 anniversary of the liberation of Lebanon from the Israeli occupation, when Israel withdrew its forces from southern Lebanon. Yesterday, Israel fired teargas at people gathered celebrating near the border.

    • Marking Liberation Day, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech, “within days, things may happen in the region that will lead to an explosion of the region” and called for “anticipation, attention and preparation for what might happen around us.”

    • About ten days ago, the Israeli army announced that a “Hezbollah drone” was tracked in Israeli territory.

    • Israeli aviation continuously violates Lebanon’s borders on a daily basis, with instances like a military boat violating maritime borders, or low-flying warplanes overhead on a Friday afternoon.
