SOUTH LEBANON — “I was very afraid of what could happen to Srifa,” says Mona, a mother from the village in the Sour district. On Monday, the residents of the town, located just south of the Litani River, woke up to fears of Israeli bombardments. The source of the alarm was a computer-generated illustration circulating on social media that purported to show the village’s underground, including what was presented as a network of Hezbollah tunnels.
