The United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday advised U.S. nationals to "reconsider any travel to Saudi Arabia," and urged its citizens not to go "under any circumstances" near the border with Yemen.
These warnings from the U.S. embassy in Riyadh come in the wake of an alleged Houthi attack targeting the holy city of Mecca, towards which the Yemeni rebels reportedly launched a drone on Wednesday morning, according to Riyadh.
At least 100,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since the resumption of fighting in early September between the Iran-linked Houthis and pro-government forces supported by Saudi Arabia, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
