Israeli army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly held a secret meeting last week in Germany with military chiefs from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt during a gathering organized by the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), amid the U.S. war with Iran, according to Israeli Channel 12.
Discussions focused on the war with Iran as well as the escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen, the outlet reported. At the same time, Israel and Saudi Arabia are reportedly considering, under U.S. mediation, expanding their military and intelligence cooperation.
Channel 12 added that the meeting served as a rare opportunity for Israeli military commanders and Gulf Arab states without diplomatic relations with Israel to meet and exchange views on the war.
The Houthi movement has in recent days amped up attacks on Yemeni government forces and their Saudi ally, strengthening their grip on the strategic Bab al-Mandeb strait following a swift offensive amid the ongoing war between Iran and the United States.
