Israeli demolition operations continue in Mansouri, Sour, where two more explosions were heard around 5:30 p.m. Witnesses cited by our correspondent also reported seeing trucks carrying what appeared to be explosives inside the village.
Victims recovered from Ghandour Hospital rubble
Rescue teams from al-Rissala Scouts, affiliated with the Amal Movement, recovered two victims from the rubble of Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Fawqa, which Israel destroyed this morning, according to our correspondent. They were identified as Habib Mansour Houmani and Hassan Wahid al-Aziz. Houmani was a member of the Amal Movement, and Aziz was a member of Hezbollah, according to our correspondent.
Rescue teams continued searching the hospital’s rubble for other victims.
Another victim, Mohammad Ismail, was killed by an Israeli strike on Ali Taher today.
More than 14 Israeli explosions reported in Mansouri today
Israel has conducted over 14 explosions in Mansouri (Sour) since this morning. Demolition operations continued after 4 p.m., followed by shelling shortly before 5 p.m., according to our correspondent.
Israeli forces also carried out two explosions in Wadi Slouqi (Nabatieh) around 5 p.m.
Meanwhile, authorities identified two victims of this morning’s strikes as Ibrahim Ghaddar and Ali Hassan Dabaja. An Israeli drone killed them in a strike on their motorcycle in Nabatieh Fawqa, near Ghandour Hospital, which Israeli strikes destroyed at dawn.
Rescue teams continued searching the hospital’s rubble for victims throughout the afternoon.
Berri: Israel seeks to turn southern Lebanon into a 'blood-soaked ballot box'
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri accused Israel of seeking to “turn southern Lebanon, its people and their property into a blood-soaked ballot box,” saying Israeli political and military leaders are competing ahead of the upcoming elections to determine “who will kill and destroy the most.”
In a statement, Berri strongly condemned Israeli attacks the previous day on Mayfadoun, Ramadieh and Maydoun, followed by strikes at dawn on Arab Salim that killed civilians, including women and children. He also denounced the destruction of Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Fawqa, the targeting of the Finance Ministry’s department in Nabatieh and the continued destruction of homes and villages in the Nabatieh, Marjayoun, Bint Jbeil and Sour districts.
Berri said the attacks, “by their nature and scale, constitute crimes akin to state terrorism.” He said Israel’s continued “war of destruction,” carried out with “unprecedented violence,” provides “irrefutable proof” that it “has respected none of the cease-fire formulas” and has disregarded “all rules, agreements and understandings.”
Berri said the situation in southern Lebanon represents both an “international responsibility,” requiring urgent intervention to end the war against Lebanon and its south, and a “national responsibility.” He called on all Lebanese parties to stand with the South, consider its cause “the cause of all Lebanese” and its defense “a defense of Lebanon.”
Salam: Government maintains support for displaced people's return despite Israeli attacks
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said Sunday that Israeli attacks will not prevent the government from continuing to support the return of displaced people to southern Lebanon or ensuring the continued operation of public services and meeting citizens’ needs.
Salam made the remarks during a phone call with Nabatieh Municipal Council President Abbas Fakhreddine, during which he asked about the situation of residents and the extent of the damage following Israeli strikes that targeted the city at dawn.
Salam also discussed the Israeli attacks with Nabatieh imam Sheikh Abdel Hussein Sadek, expressing solidarity with residents and the families of those killed and wounded by Israeli strikes.
The prime minister also called Finance Minister Yassine Jaber to inquire about damage to the ministry’s building in Nabatieh.
New Israeli demolitions in Mansouri as clearance operations continue at Ghandour Hospital
The Israeli army carried out further demolitions in Mansouri (Sour).
Meanwhile, scouts from the Islamic Mission affiliated with the Amal Movement continued clearing rubble at Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Fawqa.
Israeli army claims it struck 'Hezbollah command center' at Ghandour Hospital
The Israeli army claimed on its X account that it had struck “terrorists and infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, including a Hezbollah command center that was established in a building that previously served as a hospital,” referring to Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh, which Israeli attacks destroyed this morning.
The army added: “The strikes were carried out in response to Hezbollah’s attempted attacks the previous day in the Ali Taher ridge area and to eliminate threats from Hezbollah.”
Israel has repeatedly claimed Hezbollah and Hamas infrastructure is present in healthcare and educational facilities in Lebanon and Gaza, often with little to no proof.
Joseph Aoun denounces Israel's 'dangerous escalation,' calls on Washington to act
President Joseph Aoun condemned the resumption of Israeli attacks on Nabatieh and surrounding towns, denouncing a “dangerous escalation” and holding Israel fully responsible for the violence.
Condemning “the resumption of Israeli attacks on the city of Nabatieh and surrounding towns,” which killed innocent people, Aoun said they went beyond repeated violations of the cease-fire and framework agreements.
He said the attacks now target “Lebanese state institutions and service infrastructure responsible for citizens’ affairs and daily needs, as well as a hospital and health centers.”
President Aoun also referred to the Israeli strike on the Nabatieh Serail on April 19, which killed 19 people, including 13 State Security officers. He said the targeting of the Finance Ministry building, following an earlier strike on a State Security center that killed people, revealed “a persistent pattern of attacks” that goes beyond “alleged military targets to hit purely civilian government offices and health centers.”
The president called on the United States and the international community to intervene urgently to “end these violations and hold those responsible to account.”
Iran's response to US attacks will be 'more painful,' parliament speaker says
The U.S. should understand that the rules of the game in war against Iran have changed "before it is too late," Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on Sunday, a day after the U.S. struck several Iranian tankers in the Gulf.
"From now on, any attack against Iran’s interests and security will receive a faster, heavier and more painful response,” he said in a speech published on his Telegram channel, according to Reuters.
Israeli army tests readiness for ‘sudden, complex, multifront’ scenario
Israeli army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir launched a snap drill this morning to test his military's top-level headquarters for a “sudden multi-front scenario,” the Times of Israel reported.
The army said the drill will “examine the alertness and readiness” of the headquarters and standby forces, and “the ability to deal with a sudden, complex, multi-front, and large-scale event,” ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday period.
The commanders of all the military’s commands, directorates, and wings were ordered to rush to their headquarters. The exercise had been kept secret until it was launched, with few officers being aware of it, including major generals, according to the report.
Israeli infiltrations in Wadi Hujeir and Shebaa
Israeli vehicles are traveling around the strategic Wadi Hujeir (Marjayoun), according to our correspondent in the South. The mountainous terrain usually provides a strategic advantage to operate undetected.
An Israeli force also infiltrated the valley area in Shebaa overnight, where it launched machine-gun fire, artillery shelling, and fired illumination flares, our correspondent added. The nature of the mission remains unknown.
Israeli strike damages Finance Ministry building in Nabatieh
Powerful Israeli strikes at dawn on the city of Nabatieh damaged the local Finance Ministry building, the ministry’s media office said.
According to the statement, “Minister Yassine Jaber immediately instructed officials to protect the documents and files and ensure the continuity of services in the building.”
Civil Defense says rescue operations continue in Nabatieh
Civil Defense said in a statement that it was continuing rescue operations following the devastating Israeli strikes overnight and this morning in the city of Nabatieh. The previous day, rescuers also worked at the scenes of Israeli strikes in Mayfadoun and Nabatieh.
This morning, rescuers continued searching the rubble for possible survivors or bodies following Israeli strikes on Arab Salim (Nabatieh) the previous day.
Israeli strikes kill 4 since dawn
At 5 a.m., an Israeli airstrike destroyed a three-story building in the industrial zone of Kfar Roummane (Nabatieh district), injuring four women, the Health Ministry said.
Another Israeli strike reduced a heritage building in Nabatieh’s al-Rahbat neighborhood to rubble, injuring eight people, including a woman and a child, also according to the ministry.
Successive strikes also hit Nabatieh Fawqa, killing two and injuring two others, the Health Ministry added.
Israel also struck several neighborhoods in Nabatieh and Dabshe hill, where an Israeli drone fired a missile at a motorcycle, seriously injuring one person.
In Arab Salim, 30 minutes after an evacuation order, an Israeli strike hit a three-story villa separate from the building the army had initially identified. The strike killed two women and injured six people, including two children, the Health Ministry said.
Another Israeli strike destroyed the building named in the evacuation order, and another hit a separate building.
Israeli strikes destroy Ghandour hospital in Nabatieh
An Israeli strike destroyed Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Fawqa, which had closed and stopped admitting patients in 2019 at the onset of the economic crisis.
Amina Farhat, the wife of the hospital’s owner, confirmed the “total destruction” of the four-story facility to L'Orient Today's correspondent.
The hospital still contained operating rooms, medical imaging equipment and laboratories, according to Farhat. “The amount of the losses is estimated at several million dollars,” she said.
