Iran's response to US attacks will be 'more painful,' parliament speaker says

The U.S. should understand that the rules of the game in war against Iran have changed "before it is too late," Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on Sunday, a day after the U.S. struck several Iranian tankers in the Gulf.

"From now on, any attack against Iran’s interests and security will receive a faster, heavier and more painful response,” he said in a speech published on his Telegram channel, according to Reuters.

Israeli army tests readiness for ‘sudden, complex, multifront’ scenario

Israeli army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir launched a snap drill this morning to test his military's top-level headquarters for a “sudden multi-front scenario,” the Times of Israel reported.

The army said the drill will “examine the alertness and readiness” of the headquarters and standby forces, and “the ability to deal with a sudden, complex, multi-front, and large-scale event,” ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday period.

The commanders of all the military’s commands, directorates, and wings were ordered to rush to their headquarters. The exercise had been kept secret until it was launched, with few officers being aware of it, including major generals, according to the report.

Israeli infiltrations in Wadi Hujeir and Shebaa

Israeli vehicles are traveling around the strategic Wadi Hujeir (Marjayoun), according to our correspondent in the South. The mountainous terrain usually provides a strategic advantage to operate undetected.

An Israeli force also infiltrated the valley area in Shebaa overnight, where it launched machine-gun fire, artillery shelling, and fired illumination flares, our correspondent added. The nature of the mission remains unknown.

Israeli strike damages Finance Ministry building in Nabatieh

Powerful Israeli strikes at dawn on the city of Nabatieh damaged the local Finance Ministry building, the ministry’s media office said.

According to the statement, “Minister Yassine Jaber immediately instructed officials to protect the documents and files and ensure the continuity of services in the building.”

Civil Defense says rescue operations continue in Nabatieh

Civil Defense said in a statement that it was continuing rescue operations following the devastating Israeli strikes overnight and this morning in the city of Nabatieh. The previous day, rescuers also worked at the scenes of Israeli strikes in Mayfadoun and Nabatieh.

This morning, rescuers continued searching the rubble for possible survivors or bodies following Israeli strikes on Arab Salim (Nabatieh) the previous day.

Israeli strikes kill 4 since dawn

  • At 5 a.m., an Israeli airstrike destroyed a three-story building in the industrial zone of Kfar Roummane (Nabatieh district), injuring four women, the Health Ministry said.

  • Another Israeli strike reduced a heritage building in Nabatieh’s al-Rahbat neighborhood to rubble, injuring eight people, including a woman and a child, also according to the ministry.

  • Successive strikes also hit Nabatieh Fawqa, killing two and injuring two others, the Health Ministry added.

  • Israel also struck several neighborhoods in Nabatieh and Dabshe hill, where an Israeli drone fired a missile at a motorcycle, seriously injuring one person.

  • In Arab Salim, 30 minutes after an evacuation order, an Israeli strike hit a three-story villa separate from the building the army had initially identified. The strike killed two women and injured six people, including two children, the Health Ministry said.

  • Another Israeli strike destroyed the building named in the evacuation order, and another hit a separate building.

Israeli strikes destroy Ghandour hospital in Nabatieh

An Israeli strike destroyed Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh Fawqa, which had closed and stopped admitting patients in 2019 at the onset of the economic crisis.

Amina Farhat, the wife of the hospital’s owner, confirmed the “total destruction” of the four-story facility to L'Orient Today's correspondent.

The hospital still contained operating rooms, medical imaging equipment and laboratories, according to Farhat. “The amount of the losses is estimated at several million dollars,” she said.
