SOUTH LEBANON — The Israeli army continued to step up its attacks on Thursday, carrying out shootings and strikes in several areas along the "Yellow Line," which marks the occupied zone in southern Lebanon. The military carried out attacks from Haniyeh, in the west in the Sour district, to Kfar Shuba, in the east in the Hasbaya district, with activity also reported around Ghandourieh in the central sector.
In the eastern sector, below the occupied Golan Heights, two Israeli army Merkava tanks and several military vehicles advanced to the outskirts of Kfar Shuba, where soldiers raised an Israeli flag at a location known as Shamis and fired automatic weapons, according to our correspondent. Kfar Shuba is a predominantly Sunni village that has remained inhabited in recent months despite Israel’s occupation of more than 600 square kilometers of Lebanese territory in the south.
About 15 kilometers farther west, the Israeli air force carried out multiple powerful airstrikes Thursday morning on the Ali Taher heights, in the Nabatieh district. The ridge has been at the center of Israeli attacks for several weeks, as Tel Aviv accuses Hezbollah of harboring fighters in an underground base there. According to our correspondent, two missiles carrying powerful explosive charges were dropped on the strategic heights, causing doors to shake in homes in Kfar Roummane and Nabatieh. Artillery fire also targeted the outskirts of Mayfadoun, another village in the Nabatieh district that had already been hit in an airstrike the previous night. During the night, white-phosphorus artillery fire targeted Dohat Kfar Roummane, below Ali Taher.
In addition to these attacks, the Israeli army continued to advance and fire throughout the night along two other axes: Mansouri, on the coast south of Sour, and several villages north of Bint Jbeil in the central sector, along the “Yellow Line.” Along the first axis, the army demolished houses between Mansouri and Byout al-Siyad , dropped explosive charges and carried out an airstrike. Beyond the line marking the buffer zone, a drone dropped a stun grenade in the Ezziyeh valley, on the outskirts of Haniyeh in the Sour district. Haniyeh is located about two kilometers northeast of Mansouri.
In the Bint Jbeil region, the army fired automatic weapons at Aita al-Jabal, blew up and set fire to houses in Haddatha, and shelled the outskirts of Braasheet and Beit Yahoun. In Haris, a locality north of Haddatha near the “Yellow Line,” where troop movements and artillery attacks have been reported several times in recent days, rescuers from the Islamic Mission Scouts Association (al-Rissala), affiliated with the Amal Movement, evacuated a family that was still inside a house surrounded by Israeli forces. Artillery fire also targeted the Hujeir Valley, on the slope overlooking Ghandourieh in the Bint Jbeil district, also outside the buffer zone.
