Israeli forces carried out a new incursion into Syria’s Quneitra province early Sunday, as near-daily patrols and land clearances continue in the southwestern region, Syria TV reported.
Two Israeli tanks and three military vehicles entered the Samadaniyah area, where they patrolled for about an hour before withdrawing toward an Israeli military base, according to the broadcaster.
Similar incursions have been reported in recent days around Ain Ziwan, Rafid and the Yarmouk basin.
Israeli forces have also bulldozed farmland and grazing areas and temporarily blocked a local road, while heavy military vehicles damaged water and sewage networks as well as bridges crossing Wadi al-Ruqqad, Syria TV reported.
A local official cited by the broadcaster said Israel had described the land clearances as a precaution against explosives it feared could be planted by Hezbollah or Iran. Local residents, however, said there were no Hezbollah or Iranian fighters in the area.
