BEIRUT — Lebanese doctors who graduated from foreign universities and the Lebanese Association of Parents of Students at Foreign Universities called for a sit-in on Thursday outside the Education and Higher Education Ministry in Beirut to protest a newly introduced clinical examination (OSCE) requirement, according to the state-run National News Agency (NNA). The protest may also extend to the Public Health Ministry, NNA reported.
The demonstration comes after foreign university graduates and their families held a similar sit-in on Monday over a decision to add the OSCE to the colloquium exams they had already completed.
According to local media, the protesters had said the new requirement was imposed retroactively and called for its cancellation, arguing that graduates should not face additional conditions after completing the previously required licensing exams. They also urged authorities to respect the examination rules and administrative procedures announced in advance.
Representatives of the protesters said they had received assurances from the Education and Public Health Ministries that the issue would be reviewed and that efforts would be made to reach a solution for young doctors.
