Israeli forces continued demolition operations in southern Lebanon, drawing anger from local residents, as dozens of people protested Saturday morning outside the Nabatieh governorate headquarters at the call of the municipalities of Kfar Tebnit, Zawtar al-Sharqieh, Zawtar al-Gharbieh, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Yohmor and Arnoun, which say they are affected by near-daily attacks, according to our correspondent in southern Lebanon.
In the Marjayoun district, several homes were demolished in Deir Seriane, while two large demolitions were reported in the town of Tallouseh. Israeli artillery also fired two missiles at Kfar Shuba in the Hasbaya district.
In the Sour district, an Israeli warship fired on a fishing boat off the coast of Mansouri, forcing it to return to the Port of Sour. No injuries were reported among the fishermen. In Kfar Rummane, in the Nabatieh district, an Israeli military drone crashed in the village, causing a fire but no damage.
Israeli operations also continued overnight from Friday into Saturday, with a major demolition reported in Zawtar al-Sharqieh in the Nabatiyeh district, audible across several areas of southern Lebanon. In the Bint Jbeil district, the Israeli military carried out demolitions in Beit Yahoun and caused large explosions in Haddatha, the sound of which was heard across several parts of the south, along with tank movements and machine-gun fire in the village. Detonations were also heard in Tallouseh, where multiple houses were destroyed.
In addition, seven missiles struck the strategic hill of Ali Taher in the Nabatieh district, while machine-gun fire and artillery targeted the outskirts of Mansouri and Bouyout al-Siyyad in the Tyre district.
On Thursday night, Israeli forces carried out large-scale demolitions in the Beaufort Castle sector in the Nabatieh district, which they occupy, saying they had destroyed several Hezbollah tunnels. The site, which dates to the Crusader era and is located in occupied southern Lebanon, was added last week to UNESCO’s List of World Heritage in Danger. The damage appears to have affected the site’s perimeter but not the fortress itself.
