Lebanese Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah told Reuters that Iran had informed the group that talks with the United States could not continue without the implementation of a comprehensive cease-fire.

This comes against the backdrop of escalated Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon that have killed at least 25 people, including several children, on Friday, as Israeli invading troops try to push deeper into Lebanese territory.

Fadlallah called on the Lebanese government to reject any direct negotiations with Israel while Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, and said Washington bore responsibility for ensuring Israel halted its attacks and implemented the terms of the agreement.

Since June 14 — the day the U.S. and Iran announced that they have reached an agreement, which includes Lebanon — Israel has continued to violate the agreement by bombarding and invading Lebanon, albeit at a lower intensity. June 19, however, marked an escalation in Israeli attacks, claiming to be in retaliation to Hezbollah attacks on invading Israeli troops trying to advance further into Lebanese land. Since June 14, Israel has killed at least 40 people in Lebanon, most of which are civilians returning home.
