BEIRUT — Beirut investigating judge Christelle Melki has issued arrest warrants for two Électricité du Liban (EDL) employees in connection with the theft of hundreds of tons of copper cables, after they were referred to her by Financial Prosecutor General Maher Sheaito, who ordered their detention last week.
Meanwhile, State Security is continuing its investigation under Judge Sheaito's supervision to identify other individuals involved, as well as the networks responsible for selling the stolen cables and those who profited from the scheme, which allegedly caused significant losses to the public treasury.
