Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic, said on Wednesday they had carried out strikes on Kuwait in retaliation for U.S. attacks on an Iranian oil tanker and an island.
« In response to this aggression, Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, which hosts helicopters, as well as the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, were targeted by missiles and drones from the Guards’ forces, » they said on their official Telegram channel.
Kuwaiti authorities said one person was killed and at least 63 others were injured in the Iranian attack, including airport workers and passengers. The strikes damaged Kuwait International Airport and temporarily disrupted air traffic.
The Kuwaiti foreign ministry confirmed the death toll, while the health ministry said the wounded were receiving treatment.
