BEIRUT — Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a Cabinet meeting on Monday at the Grand Serail focused on efforts to enforce the cease-fire that took effect on April 17 but has been violated daily by Israel and Hezbollah.
The meeting also reviewed Friday's negotiations between Israeli and Lebanese military officials, Information Minister Paul Morcos said during a press briefing afterward.
The government also discussed the issue of the over one million people displaced by Israeli threats and attacks. A comprehensive report covering the response to shelter and displacement needs over the past three months is scheduled to be published Tuesday.
The government plans to launch an urgent appeal to the international community on Friday, in addition to its initial appeal, to help meet the growing needs of displaced people amid declining available resources.
Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2 have killed more than 3,412 people, while damages are estimated at tens of billions of dollars, according to a partial assessment released by the Finance Ministry on May 21.
