On June 2, L’Orient Today will host "Lebanon on the Edge" at The Frontline Club in London, bringing together journalists and academics for a conversation on the country’s current political moment and the wider regional dynamics shaping it.
The panel will feature Gilbert Achcar, Professor of Development Studies and International Relations at SOAS University of London and a leading voice on Middle East geopolitics and political economy whose work includes "The People Want, Morbid Symptoms," and "The New Cold War," among other widely translated books on global and regional order ; Andrew Arsan, Professor of Arab and Global History at the University of Cambridge, a historian of the modern Middle East whose work spans empire, political and intellectual history, and Lebanon, including "Interlopers of Empire" and "Lebanon in Fragments"; and Liz Sly, veteran independent journalist and former Washington Post Middle East correspondent, who has reported from across the region for over 25 years, including extended coverage of Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
The discussion will be moderated by Iva Kovic-Chahine, Head of L’Orient Today, and will move beyond the immediacy of headlines to explore how Lebanon is being reshaped politically, socially, and regionally in real time.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. at the Frontline Club in London, followed by an audience discussion.
Seats are limited and interest has already been been high, so early booking is strongly recommended.
