Lebanese banks wary of possible K2 Integrity oversight of transfers
The possibility was raised during meetings with the American firm, which was mandated by BDL to help Lebanon exit the FATF grey list and which includes several former Treasury officials among its ranks.

BEIRUT — While banking-sector restructuring and the resolution of Lebanon’s financial crisis remain their overriding concern, another issue has been quietly unsettling Lebanese banking circles in recent months: whether K2 Integrity, the U.S. firm mandated by Banque du Liban (BDL), could move beyond its advisory role and become involved, directly or indirectly, in monitoring transfers into and out of the country.The debate comes nearly a year after the signing, in July 2025, of a cooperation agreement between BDL and K2 Integrity, aimed at helping Lebanon address shortcomings identified by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and support its efforts to exit the gray list through technical and advisory assistance.
