Through “Deep Sleep,” a family business turned wartime initiative, Itani produces pillows that provide displaced people with the chance to enjoy, as the name suggests, a night of deep sleep.

In Lebanon, war sends people down different paths: some leave, others wait, while some, almost instinctively, begin making things.Mokhtar Itani makes pillows — a way to assert that even now, even under these conditions, especially under these conditions, the body deserves to rest.
