The command of the Iranian armed forces on Saturday threatened the United States with a military response if the American blockade of Iranian ports persists, denouncing the actions as "piracy."

"If the American armed forces continue their blockade and persist in their acts of banditry and piracy in the region, they should know that they expose themselves to retaliation from the powerful Iranian armed forces," said the command, Khatam al-Anbiya, as quoted by state television. "We are ready and determined, and we are monitoring the actions and movements of our enemies," it added.
