BEIRUT — The Israeli army announced Tuesday the death of a soldier "in combat" in southern Lebanon, where Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah have been clashing for more than a month.
"Staff Sergeant Ayal Uriel Bianco, 30, driver of a firefighting vehicle ... was killed in action in southern Lebanon," the Israeli armed forces said in a statement.
The staff sergeant, a reservist, was attached to the 188th Brigade, according to Haaretz, which cited the army as saying that in the same incident, three other reservists were wounded — one moderately and two lightly.
