Is Lebanon on the path to a prolonged war?

The intensification of Israeli attacks in Lebanon, reaching as far as Beirut, signals the worst, possibly a catastrophic scenario for the country’s future. The ring of fire targeting Beirut's southern suburbs, the Israeli strikes on Ramlet al-Baida (Beirut), Aramoun (Aley) and the heart of the capital, along with the shelling of dozens of villages and towns in the South and Bekaa, have been accompanied by increased ground incursions and the evacuation of nearly a quarter of the national territory.
