BEIRUT — Hezbollah’s vice president, Mahmoud Qomati, said in an interview on al‑Jadeed that the group’s decision to join the regional war alongside Iran, including the rocket attacks on March 2, was “more important than the price” it is currently paying.

He said these strikes were carried out "at the request of the residents" of southern Lebanon's villages, hundreds of thousands of whom are currently displaced by the fighting.

"It is absolutely unacceptable for Lebanon to remain violated and occupied and for our prisoners to remain detained in Israeli prisons," he went on to say, repeating the goals set by Hezbollah since the November 2024 cease-fire: the withdrawal of Israelis from occupied positions in the South, the strikes that have continued on the territory despite the truce, and the release of dozens of Lebanese prisoners held in Israel.
