A Lebanese Civil Defense center in Doueir received a call, purportedly from the Israeli army, urging the evacuation of several neighboring villages in the area, including Ansar, Doueir and Sharqieh. These three localities are situated south of the Zahrani River, where the Israeli army had called on all residents to evacuate northwards.
Following the call, around a hundred residents of Ansar are preparing to leave their homes, municipal council president Mohsen al-Assi told L'Orient Today.
"For safety reasons, and following the threats received by Civil Defense," the municipality of Ansar called on "all residents to temporarily evacuate the locality in order to ensure public safety, as a precaution and until further notice."
The official told our correspondent that he had "been in contact with the relevant security services to take the necessary measures." "I have also called the town's mukhtars and asked them to warn the residents so they are aware of the situation and realize the need to leave," he added. He specified that about 120 families are preparing to leave the village.
This area continues to be bombarded by the Israeli army, with or without warning, for the past two weeks.
