At the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, the echoes of those mourning Hezbollah's former secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah, and celebrating the war's end just over a year ago have been replaced by whispered prayers and the sounds of Israeli bombardment on Beirut’s southern suburbs just a few hundred kilometers away. Children clutch teddy bears or small toys as they run between their parents, who search for a place to rest.For Abdallah, 60, it was a long journey from his home in the border village of Kounin (Bint Jbeil district), where Israeli strikes cut electricity and water. After sleeping in his car for three nights, he was finally admitted to the stadium Sunday evening — upon its opening — receiving a tent, mattresses and essentials from the Red Cross. Flashback to...
