German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will arrive in Beirut overnight from Sunday to Monday for a three-day visit, the state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported Thursday.
During his stay, he will meet with President Joseph Aoun, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and several other Lebanese officials.
The visit's program also includes a meeting with the German naval contingent serving within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as the U.N. plans to withdraw most of its peacekeepers, whose mandate expires at the end of the year, by mid-2027.
The German president's itinerary also features visits to the Beirut Port, the National Museum and the Naval School of Jounieh. Steinmeier will be accompanied by his wife and a diplomatic delegation.
Official talks with Aoun are scheduled for Monday and will be followed by a news conference at the Baabda Presidential Palace. This will be Steinmeier's second visit to Lebanon, following his first trip in 2018.
